We believe a strong group of friends and family is essential to your recovery – no one goes through this alone. By building a network of accountability and mutual trust, you’ll never feel alone in your sobriety. Forming a community in recovery cushions you against external pressures and reminds you that others are going through the same difficult journey that you’ve undertaken. As you connect and reconnect with your support system, you’ll build responsibility and a feeling of belonging that will serve you long after your departure from inpatient treatment.
The American Psychological Association lists several benefits of group therapy. This method of treatment provides perspective for your own problems, illustrates diversity in background and experiences, and helps improve your confidence in group situations. “Groups can act as a support network and sounding board. Other members of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge, and hold you accountable along the way.”
Beyond typical meetings, our group sessions include recreational outings to scenic locations and local sites. Hiking in the Hollywood Hills builds community with fellow group members and allows our clients to encounter potential real-world triggers with clinical support. We also focus on experiential therapy, which sharpens your awareness in order to identify and cope with different potential triggers, teaching clients to live life on life’s terms. Concise Recovery Center has standard 12 Step support groups so that you can get into the habit of attending communal meetings after your inpatient rehab in Los Angeles has concluded. Beginning these meetings while in treatment helps you find out how many are available near your home, and plugs you into your new sober community.
A positive group setting can be the support system you need to overcome your addiction. Recovery is an individual process, and throughout your experience with our program, you are conditioned to become more in-tune with your own thoughts and feelings. But while the individuality cannot be neglected, there is significant power in being in a group of other people who may be encountering similar circumstances to yours. Group therapy inserts you in an environment where individuals are actively trying to better themselves. This can be a stark contrast to your life pre-treatment, where you may have been surrounded by people who were negative influences. By conversing with like-minded people, you can get a psychological boost in knowing that you are not alone on your journey.
Group therapy gives you a voice. There is no telling when you may face anger, sadness, or stress because of circumstances that are outside of your control. By being able to articulate these feelings in a constructive way, you have an outlet that will help you maintain your sobriety. Many of our clients have considered group meetings to be an indispensable piece of their recovery process.
Group therapy allows you to pull from the community of other individuals in our program, and it shows you first-hand that your battle with addiction doesn’t need to be faced alone. In these group meetings, you’ll have the opportunity to present your story, hear the experiences of others, and get additional support to manage co-occurring conditions and traumas.
Concise Recovery uses the 12-step framework for its group therapy sessions. 12-Step programs teach people how to address their addiction with honesty. Within the first few weeks of the program, participating members can ask for a “sponsor” to act as a mentor and personal advocate. A sponsor is officially recognized by the group as an individual that has successfully completed the program and is capable of providing leadership and accountability training to new members. The strength of the 12-step meeting is the sharing of experiences. This is designed to give you hope, give you new ways to cope positively, and help you approach your past behaviors with authentic accountability.

Dual disorders, or co-occurring disorders, happen when a person suffers from a mental health disorder alongside a substance use disorder. The two disorders often feed into one another, creating a vicious cycle that may feel impossible to break. Dual diagnosis is the process of diagnosing both disorders and creating a treatment plan to address them simultaneously. Since a mental health disorder can contribute to addiction and vice versa, both issues must be addressed together to achieve lasting recovery.
After patients have completed the rehabilitation process with Concise Recovery, they have the option of residing in our sober living community. Sober living allows a person to transition back into daily life while living in a safe location free of addictive substances. Residents in sober living communities are expected to look after themselves and keep up with responsibilities such as paying rent, completing chores, and abiding by a curfew.
Relapse is a very common part of the recovery journey. Research has shown that more than half of those who complete rehab treatment for drug or alcohol addiction will relapse within the first year. However, relapsing does not mean you have failed, and with Concise Recovery’s continuous care through our sober living program, you can achieve long-term recovery and keep control over your lifestyle.
Inpatient rehabilitation, or residential treatment, means that patients reside at an addiction treatment facility for a set length of time. With inpatient care, patients have 24/7 access to recovery specialists and can heal in a safe and controlled environment. Outpatient care is when patients receive addiction treatment services but can still return to the comfort of their own homes at the end of the day. Outpatient care allows patients to have a more flexible schedule and still live their daily life outside of a treatment center.
The rehabilitation process can vary depending on your needs and the best timeline to suit your healing. Most addiction rehabilitation programs vary in length from 30-day programs to 60-days to 90-days. Contact us to learn more.
