Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) provide intensive care for those who have already completed a residential or inpatient program. Additional support can be incredibly helpful as those new to recovery transition from the environment of a treatment center to the “real world,” and consists of both individual treatment and group sessions.
For adults with busy daily routines who cannot commit to an intensive inpatient treatment program, partial hospitalization is a viable alternative. In a partial hospitalization program, individuals are provided the intensity of an inpatient treatment program in the day, and the flexibility of heading home for rest and family interactions in the night.
Our partial hospitalization program is one of our most immersive and effective programs for people who have suffered from addiction. Unlike our residential program, you will not live at our facility during treatment, but you will enter our facility multiple days per week to have private sessions with therapists, participate in group therapy, and do whatever is needed to treat your condition.
At Concise Recovery, we have years of experience facilitating partial hospitalization programs for patients who are based out of different cities and communities in California. Locations include Los Angeles and Malibu, among others.
PHP is ideal for those who have recently completed residential treatment and serves as an excellent stepping stone to a more independent lifestyle. Those in the PHP program receive treatment during the day, up to five days a week, and then are able to return home rather than stay overnight in our facility. This service is open to everyone, including those who did not attend residential treatment at Concise Recovery or those who have just moved back to the Los Angeles area and would like additional support as they readjust. Others who might benefit from PHP are people whose substance use is milder and may not require full time treatment provided in our residential program. For the people who have already completed a residential program, Concise Recovery’s PHP is the ideal next step to get them closer to long-lasting recovery. And for the people who have not completed a residential program, but simply don’t have the ability to stay overnight at our facility, the PHP is still an excellent option. Even though patients won’t stay overnight, they still benefit from world-class therapies from skilled therapists, doctors, and experts. If you or a loved one is ready for a change without the commitment of a long-term stay at our facility, the PHP is absolutely perfect.
At Concise Recovery, our partial hospitalization program provides recovering addicts a more flexible and affordable alternative for people seeking recovery. Our partial hospitalization programs for addiction recovery are designed for two main groups of people: those who are transitioning down from a residential addiction treatment program, and those who are using it as an alternative to residential treatment. This form of treatment serves as a progressive step towards independent living and allows people to carry out their work responsibilities and family commitments while in therapy.
Patients who opt for partial hospitalization can expect an intensive program of counseling, therapy, and alternative treatments such as yoga or meditation. The treatment begins with a medical detox which is supervised by addiction specialists. Patients will be prescribed any medication they may require such as methadone to counteract any serious withdrawal symptoms. Patients will also be expected to attend any group therapy sessions held at the treatment center.
Patients are also taught how to recognize possible triggers for their drug use such as stress, boredom, or grief and are shown alternative methods of dealing with strong emotions. In order to prevent relapse and continue their sobriety, patients must build a strong support network to help with their recovery. Drug treatment centers can advise patients on how to find local support groups that offer continued guidance and counseling regarding sober living. Halfway houses are a good option for those that require a more controlled drug and alcohol-free environment to help patients learn how to resist their cravings before reentering society.
Aftercare is an important part of drug and alcohol rehabilitation and can consist of regular group therapy sessions, one-on-one counseling sessions with an addiction specialist, and a range of complementary therapies to help patients deal with stress and anxiety. Former addicts are also encouraged to attend Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous meetings in their area to receive extra support and share their experiences with other recovering addicts.
Our PHP program is customized to each patient and includes a variety of services, including individual therapy (CBT, DBT, and EMDR available), group therapy (12 step meetings and outings), furthered education, peer support, and medication management. When clients inquire about our PHP, they often ask if they’ll receive the same quality of care as the residential program participants do. Without a doubt, you can be confident that you’ll receive the same quality of care as the residential program. The major difference is that you won’t live in our facility. You’ll still be able to enjoy outings to Malibu’s stunning beaches, sessions with amazing therapists, yoga classes from respected experts, and so much more. PHP is an incredible option for people that need individualized care without wanting to stay on our grounds overnight.
A partial hospitalization program can help in your journey towards a life independent of addiction forming substances. Partial hospitalization programs involve an intensive day treatment program including physical detoxification, withdrawal symptom management and rehabilitation therapies, while allowing individuals to head home during the night and return to their everyday routines without excessive disruption.
The inpatient component of a partial hospitalization program is similar to other inpatient treatment programs, and usually includes individual, group and family therapy sessions. In individual sessions, patients meet one-on-one with trained rehabilitation experts who will help the patients to understand their drug dependence management issue better. In group sessions, patients have the opportunity to share their experiences with others. In family sessions, patients can begin to reconnect with their loved ones and repair broken relationships.
A partial hospitalization program usually involves an inpatient component and an outpatient component. In the day, individuals undergo an intensive treatment plan that involves the following therapies:
The daytime component of a partial hospitalization program can last anywhere between six and nine hours. During this component, the progress of the individual will be closely monitored by professional rehabilitation experts, who are there to support the individual and react to any adverse withdrawal effects. In the night, individuals are allowed to leave the facility to continue with their daily routines and practice the lessons learnt in the day during the therapy sessions. The free pass to leave the facility is not a reason to resume consumption of the addiction forming substances.

Dual disorders, or co-occurring disorders, happen when a person suffers from a mental health disorder alongside a substance use disorder. The two disorders often feed into one another, creating a vicious cycle that may feel impossible to break. Dual diagnosis is the process of diagnosing both disorders and creating a treatment plan to address them simultaneously. Since a mental health disorder can contribute to addiction and vice versa, both issues must be addressed together to achieve lasting recovery.
After patients have completed the rehabilitation process with Concise Recovery, they have the option of residing in our sober living community. Sober living allows a person to transition back into daily life while living in a safe location free of addictive substances. Residents in sober living communities are expected to look after themselves and keep up with responsibilities such as paying rent, completing chores, and abiding by a curfew.
Relapse is a very common part of the recovery journey. Research has shown that more than half of those who complete rehab treatment for drug or alcohol addiction will relapse within the first year. However, relapsing does not mean you have failed, and with Concise Recovery’s continuous care through our sober living program, you can achieve long-term recovery and keep control over your lifestyle.
Inpatient rehabilitation, or residential treatment, means that patients reside at an addiction treatment facility for a set length of time. With inpatient care, patients have 24/7 access to recovery specialists and can heal in a safe and controlled environment. Outpatient care is when patients receive addiction treatment services but can still return to the comfort of their own homes at the end of the day. Outpatient care allows patients to have a more flexible schedule and still live their daily life outside of a treatment center.
The rehabilitation process can vary depending on your needs and the best timeline to suit your healing. Most addiction rehabilitation programs vary in length from 30-day programs to 60-days to 90-days. Contact us to learn more.
